Cassidy White • Chair

University of Alabama •  Clinical Psyc/Law PhD 
Cassidy is a fifth-year Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate in the Psychology & Law concentration at The University of Alabama working with Dr. Jenni Cox and Dr. Lauren Kois. She completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University and is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her research interests broadly include forensic assessment, competency to stand trial, and feigning/malingering. This is Cassidy's fourth year on the AP-LS Student Committee as she has previously served as the campus rep coordinator, secretary, and chair-elect. In her free time, she enjoys drinking coffee, reading every genre of books, and hanging out with her two dogs, Millie & Poppy!​

Sidra Capriolo • Chair-Elect

University of Alabama •  Clinical Psyc/Law PhD ​
 Sidra Capriolo is a third-year clinical psychology PhD student at The University of Alabama in the psych-law track and works with Karen Salekin, PhD. She completed her undergraduate BAs in psychology and Spanish from Miami University (OH). Sidra's clinical and research interests draw from a variety of subfields within forensic psychology, including accommodations for defendants with disabilities, financial empowerment in justice-impacted individuals, and competency to stand trial. Outside of professional activities, she loves cooking vegan food, spending time with animals, and reading (news articles, opinion pieces, poetry, books, bad takes on Twitter—you name it)!

Jayce Owens-Boone • Secretary

The University of Texas at El Paso • Social Cultural Psych. PhD 
Jayce is a third-year Social-Cultural Psychology PhD student at the University of Texas at El Paso working with Dr. Kelly Burke and Dr. Hannah Volpert-Esmond. They earned their BA in psychology from Arcadia University and their MS in experimental psychology from Western Illinois University. Generally, Jayce’s research focuses on racial discrimination (vicarious and direct) in the legal system, perceptions of police, and police decision-making. They are also interested in race categorization, attention, and neurocognition. In their free time, Jayce reads, crochets, and plays the Sims 4 with their dog, Cow, and bunny, Lofi.

Shannon Williamson-Butler • Campus Representative Coordinator

The University of North Texas • Clinical Psychology PhD 
Shannon Williamson-Butler is a 4th year clinical psychology doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas. She is broadly interested in forensic assessment, especially competency to stand trial, malingering, and scale development for forensic assessment instruments (FAIs). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her two dogs, and baking new desserts!

Madison Dobreff • Clinical Liaison

The Florida School of Professional Psychology • Clinical Psych. PsyD student
Madison Dobreff, the newly re-elected clinical liaison, is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in clinical psychology currently completing her internship at Utah State Hospital on the forensic track. In this role, she conducts forensic evaluations and competency restoration work with both adults and juveniles across multiple forensic settings. Her previous clinical experience includes providing psychotherapy within a local jail for youth charged as adults and conducting forensic evaluations. Her dissertation examines the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and juvenile offending while accounting for client-specific factors. Madison’s long-term career goal is to serve as a forensic psychologist specializing in forensic assessment. As clinical liaison, she aims to serve as a point of contact for all things internship-related and keep clinical psychology students informed about internship application updates.

Christian Stephens • Experimental Liaison

Iowa State University  • Cognitive Psychology PhD
​Christian is a first-year doctoral student concentrated in cognitive psychology at Iowa State University. His primary motivation is to mitigate cognitive biases in criminal justice processes and systems across the world. A big team scientist, he also pursues large-scale, cross-cultural replications of fundamental cognitive psychology research. His research interests and experiences extend to education, communication, and public health, and he currently works on incorporating large language models into forensic mental health evaluations. He also plays bongos.

Peony Wong • Diversity Liaison

Sam Houston State University • Clinical Psych. PhD
Peony is a third-year clinical psychology student in the doctoral program at Sam Houston State University working with Dr. Marcus Boccaccini. She completed her undergraduate and masters degree from Villanova University near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her research interests include forensic assessment, competency to stand trial, and psychopathy. Her long-term goal is to be a forensic psychologist. In her free time, she enjoys aerial yoga, playing board games, and hosting book club.

Ashley Vaughn • Law Liaison

The University of Texas at El Paso • Clinical Psychology PhD ​​
Ashley is a licensed attorney and Ph.D. student in the Legal Decision Lab at the University of Texas at El Paso. Before returning to graduate school, she practiced law full time, an experience that shapes her research interests at the intersection of psychology and the legal system. Her work focuses on how laypeople perceive fairness, legitimacy, and control across a variety of legal contexts, with particular attention to alternative dispute resolution and juveniles in the legal system. Ashley lives in El Paso with her husband, dog, and cat, and is passionate about using both research and practice to expand access to justice.

Jordan is a fifth-year in the clinical psychology PhD program at the University of North Texas and is from Charleston, South Carolina. Her research interests include jury decision making, sexual violence, and discriminatory attitudes toward marginalized groups. In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her cat, Finn!
