Meet the 2022-2023 Student Committee

Kamar Tazi • Chair

Univ. of North Texas • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Kamar is a third-year Clinical Psychology PhD student at the University of North Texas. She is completing a concentration in forensic clinical psychology. Kamar completed her undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Her research broadly focuses on forensic assessments and factors underlying legal decision-making capacities in underserved and understudied populations. Her passion for social justice informs all her work, and she is excited to continue this in her career.

Cecilia Allan • Chair-Elect

Fairleigh Dickinson University • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Cecilia Allan is a third-year in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo and her master's in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Her research interests include sexual violence prevention, paraphilic diagnoses, grooming behaviors, sex trafficking, victim-offender duality, and sex offender legislation.

Jordan Donson • Secretary

Univ. of North Texas • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Jordan is a second-year in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at the University of North Texas where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Her research interests include improving outcomes for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system, studying forensic assessment for psychopathy, callous-unemotional, and Dark Tetrad traits. Jordan is also interested in addressing the mental health needs of justice-involved populations.

Cassidy White • Campus Rep Coordinator

Univ. of Alabama • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Cassidy is a second-year Clinical Psychology PhD student at the University of Alabama in the psychology and law concentration. Her research interests include assessment of competency to stand trial, competency restoration, and adverse/traumatic experiences. Cassidy's career goals are to work clinically with individuals experiencing severe mental illness in a hospital setting along with advocacy and adjunct teaching. In her free time, she enjoys drinking coffee, reading, and traveling.

Ashley Dhillon • Communications Officer

Adelphi University • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Ashley Dhillon is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, Adelphi University. She completed her undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology and a master's degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Her research interests include treatment and prevention of sexual abuse, grooming, trauma, and social justice more broadly.

Will Pan • Clinical Liaison

Univ. of North Texas • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Will is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Texas. He obtained a master's degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Midwestern State University and worked at a maximum security state hospital for 4.5 years before beginning his doctoral training. His research interests involve response styles and measurement development and validation. Will has a passion for statistics. He has been teaching graduate-level quantitative methods lab for the past two years and enjoys the experience very much.

Laura Stevens • Experimental Liaison

Univ. of Birmingham Schoo of Psych. PhD student
Laura is a final year PhD student from the University of Birmingham, School of Psychology. Laura obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Cambridge and her master's in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. Laura's research is focused on eyewitness memory for incidents of sexual violence. Her work is both experimental and has forensic applications. Her thesis explores how evidence-based memory theory and best-practice interviewing principles can be incorporated into a novel interviewing tool to document accurate and forensically useful information from witnesses, both domestically and in humanitarian contexts.

Chelsea Jackson • Law Liaison

Drexel Univ. • Clinical Psych. JD/PhD student
Chelsea is a fourth-year JD/PhD student at Drexel University studying forensic clinical psychology. She completed her undergraduate degree at Lafayette College and completed her master's degree at the University of Liverpool in the UK. Her research and clinical interests include introducing racial identity measure into forensic assessment, problem-solving courts, sex offender treatment and rehabilitation, and trauma/PTSD focused therapies.

Sana Vora • Diversity Liaison

Montclair State Univ. • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Sana is a second-year doctoral student at Montclair State University in the Clinical Psychology PhD program with a concentration in forensic psychology. She completed her undergraduate degree at Drexel University. Her research and clinical interests include investigating rehabilitative services for justice-involved individuals in relation to recidivism, traumatic brain injury (in community and forensic settings), competency and violence risk assessment, and neuropsychological assessment.

Haley Potts • Past-Chair

Univ. of Alabama • Clinical Psych. PhD student
Haley Potts is a fifth-year doctoral student at the University of Alabama, studying Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Psychology and Law. She completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Women's Studies at Sewanee: The University of the South, and she earned a master's degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver. Her research and clinical interests include forensic assessment, competency to proceed, competency restoration, mental state at the time of the offense, and serious and persistent mental illness. Haley is currently completing her doctoral internship year at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on their forensic psychology placement.
