Sidra Capriolo is a fourth-year clinical psychology PhD student at The University of Alabama in the psych-law track and works with Minqui (Will) Pan, PhD. She completed her undergraduate BAs in psychology and Spanish from Miami University (OH) and her master’s degree in clinical psychology at UA under the supervision of Karen Salekin, PhD. Sidra's clinical and research interests draw from a variety of subfields within forensic psychology, including accommodations for defendants with disabilities, financial empowerment in justice-impacted individuals, and competency to stand trial. Outside of professional activities, she loves spending time with animals, reading, and exercising with weights, cardio, or yoga.

Peony is a fourth-year clinical psychology student in the doctoral program at Sam Houston State University working with Dr. Marcus Boccaccini. She completed her undergraduate and masters degree from Villanova University near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her research interests include forensic assessment, competency to stand trial, and psychopathy. Her long-term goal is to be a forensic psychologist. Jayce (they/them) is a fourth-year Social-Cultural Psychology Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at El Paso, working with Dr. Hannah Volpert-Esmond. They earned a B.A. in Psychology, with minors in Criminal Justice and Sociology, from Arcadia University and an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Western Illinois University. Jayce’s research broadly focuses on racial discrimination—both vicarious and direct—within the legal system, perceptions of police, and police decision-making. They are also interested in race categorization, attention, and neurocognition. In their free time, Jayce enjoys reading, crocheting, and playing The Sims 4 and Pokopia with their dog, Cow, and cats, Miyamura and Tokito.

Kirsi is a first-year Clinical Psychology PhD student in the Psychology & Law concentration at The University of Alabama, working with Dr. Minqi “Will” Pan. She earned her MA in Clinical Psychology and MS in Quantitative Psychology from Ball State University and her BS in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her research broadly focuses on psychological measurement, violence, and forensic assessment. More specifically, she is interested in the measurement of risk factors for violence and how forensic assessment can inform legal decisions, including diversion and alternative sentencing. In her free time, Kirsi enjoys baking, reading, and listening to music.

Chloe Rodriguez is a second-year clinical psychology Ph.D. student at Sam Houston State University working with Dr. M.E. Wood. She earned her bachelor’s degree in both criminal justice and psychology, as well as her master’s degree in clinical psychology at Sam Houston State University. Broadly, Chloe’s clinical and research interests include forensic assessment, defendants with disabilities, and juvenile populations. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys reading fiction novels and playing with her three cats: Sunny, Shadow, and Scar.

Jessica Fagan is a 2nd-year doctoral student in the Psychology & Law program at the CUNY Graduate Center and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she works with Dr. Margaret Bull Kovera. She dual-specializes in Psychology & Law and Basic & Applied Social Psychology, with a concentration in Quantitative Methods. Her research focuses on eyewitness identification, particularly the influence of facial recognition technology (FRT) on eyewitness decision-making. Outside of her academic work, Jessica enjoys reading self-development books, trying new recipes, watching true-crime documentaries, and exploring New York City with her friends.

Devyn Hayes is a second-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Student at Sam Houston State University in the forensic emphasis, where she works with Dr. M.E. Wood. She completed her B.A.s in Psychology and Criminal Justice from California State University, San Bernardino and formerly worked as a student assistant for the clinical and neuropsychology teams at Patton State Hospital. Devyn's research and clinical interests broadly focus on forensic psychology, including reasonable accommodations for individuals with cognitive deficits and/or disabilities within the criminal legal system, severe mental illness in forensic settings, and forensic evaluations. In her free time, Devyn enjoys yoga and playing with her husky, Zeus.

Gabriel Alvarez is a Ph.D. student in Criminology, Law and Society and a law student at the University of California, Irvine. His research sits at the intersection of psychology and law, with a particular focus on how psychological science can inform the treatment of children and other vulnerable populations in legal settings. His work examines child sexual abuse testimony, attorney questioning, memory and suggestibility, interpersonal violence, and legal decision-making. More broadly, he is interested in how developmental and cognitive processes shape individuals’ experiences with the justice system and how empirical research can improve legal practice, courtroom procedures, and the evaluation of evidence.

Cassidy is a sixth-year Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate in the Psychology & Law track at The University of Alabama working with Dr. Jenni Cox and Dr. Lauren Kois and a current doctoral intern at Central Regional Hospital in North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University and is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her research interests broadly include forensic assessment, competency to stand trial, and feigning/malingering. This is Cassidy's fifth year on the AP-LS Student Committee as she has previously served as the campus rep coordinator, secretary, chair-elect, and chair.
